Warning - alcohol can damage your health - drink in moderation.
Gevrey Chambertin is the largest wine producing commune in the Cote de Nuits - it has 9 out of the region's 24 Grand Crus wines, and with Vosne Romanee, is one of the two most important red wine producing villages in Burgundy. Wine has been produced in Gevrey since Roman times (see our Guide to 'Ancien Gevrey'). The earliest recorded land transaction for a Gevrey vineyard is 636 AD when the Grand Cru vineyard Chambertin Clos de Beze was given to the Abbey of Beze by Duke Amalgaire of Burgundy.
