We conduct wine tastings in the vaulted cellars of The Wine Club in Gevrey Chambertin. We charge for the tasting - 35e per person for an ordinary tasting, more if you wish to taste Grand Crus (we are the only cellar on the Côte where you can have a vertical tasting of the Grands Crus of Gevrey Chambertin), but there is no obligation to purchase. The wines are selected based on our own tasting experiences, from small independent producers, who care passionately about what they do, and in our opinion produce excellent wine at a reasonable price (for Burgundy!) Matthieu Aravantinos a wine professional, fluent in English, French and Spanish, starts with an introduction to the wines of Burgundy, the terroir, the history, and just why Burgundy is so different. This is followed by a guided tasting of 6 wines. Total time approximately 1.5 hours. Contact us at email@example.com or 00 33 (0)3 80 51 48 25
WINE TOURS in burgundy
The most important thing about a Burgundy wine tour, is to get to taste well made wine in the cellars of vigneron who care about what they do. It is the function of the Guide to gain this access, and keep you away from the tourist traps, and cellars in which the Tour Operator has an undeclared vested interest. After that it is a matter of taste and budget. Personal introductions to Burgundy Winemakers will always be the way to find the best wine, and we are happy to make introductions to winemakers we work with in and around Gevrey Chambertin, and in other villages of the Côte de Nuits. Here is a selection of independent guides that we have worked with and who have been recommended by our clients. We also arrange self-guided tours for our clients - see below.

Typically a full wine tour day will include 3 tastings in small excellent family wineries not usually open to the public, often tasting with the wine maker or family member. Every tour is custom made according to the expectations of the clients. A number of questions will be asked before a tour is designed (professional or amateur? preferences for white or red? intention of shipping wines home, etc.) ; I work with about 30 different winemakers.
My fee (350€ plus lunch) does not include transportation and eventual entry or tasting fees. More and more the tendancy is for wineries to charge if there are no purchases. The purchase of a bottle (at least) is a matter of etiquette ; after all the winemakers spend a generous hour with us.
Transportation is supplementary : most often I drive the clients’ rented vehicle or rent one for the day. A chauffeured vehicle is also possible.
An introductory day in the vineyards and villages of Burgundy should be as enjoyable as educational. You will undoubtedly come away with a good understanding of the terroir, appreciation for the wines, and respect for the winemakers.
